Marsi Carr has been performing and writing music for many years. As a child she was surrounded by music. Her mother played and sang to her as a child. Her father performed with the Los Angles Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra for more than a quarter-century. Her brother is a world-renowned recording flutist and professor at UCLA. Her sister is an accomplished teacher and classical pianist.
Marsi received her degree from UCLA in Theater Arts and Music. She studied voice with Dean Verhines of the Metropolitan Opera and sang in the Roger Wagner Chorale with the LA Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta at the Hollywood Bowl and Dorothy Chandler Pavillion.
Carr studied classical piano with Dorothy and Leo Podolsky and jazz piano with acclaimed pianist Pee Wee Lyn. She studied acting at Maria Gobetti's Victory Theater.
After graduating from UCLA, Marsi spent five years touring the US singing and performing popular music in literally hundreds of venues. She now lives in Valley Center, CA with her husband, Charles, a newspaper columnist, editor, and musician, and children, Sammi and Alex.
