Marsi Carr received her degree from UCLA in Theater Arts and Music. She studied voice with Dean Verhines of the Metropolitan Opera and sang in the Roger Wagner Chorale with the LA Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta at both the Hollywood Bowl and the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion.

Carr studied classical piano with Dorothy and Leo Podolsky, jazz piano with acclaimed jazz pianist Pee Wee Lyn and acting with legendary Victory Theater coach Maria Gobetti.

After graduating from UCLA, Marsi spent several years touring in and out of the US singing and performing popular music. She then settled in the San Diego area with her husband, Charles, a newspaper columnist, magazine editor and musician. They have two children, Samantha and Alex.

Marsi teaches voice, piano, and guitar at Marsi Carr's Music and Arts Studio, performs with her band and teaches music in area schools.

Marsi's brand new album of original children's songs, Just Like You I Was Little Too, was inspired during her tenure as Director of Music Education at Escondido's Community Child Development Center. Her next project will be an album of original music for grownups.

Carr has been involved with the Valley Center Community Theater since it’s inception. She was vocal director for The Sound of Music, as well as playing the part of Mother Abbess. She also directed the classic stage production, It's a Wonderful Life, and both directed and choreographed Oliver! Most recently, she was vocal director for VCCT's Christmas 2008 production of Scrooge.

Marsi is looking forward to working with people of all ages and skill levels during her 2009 summer workshops.
